Inspiration: Clean & Simple

I just wrapped up my summer internship where I was in charge of marketing for a co-op fashion designer boutique in Philadelphia. For some reason, I feel as if my school work isn’t enough to keep me preoccupied at the moment, so I’m hoping to snag another internship or a part-time job. Over the weekend I was browsing the internet and came across a stylist internship for Urban Outfitters. To apply, I needed to supply a resume, cover letter, and an inspiration board. So, thus I spent the next hour putting together what you see above. (Looking now, I can see I added two of those antler things and it’s killing me)

As you can clearly see, currently I’ve been inspired by clean, simple silhouettes and designs. Dusty cream, greys, and blues are what I’ve been drawn too, especially in the form of a chunky sweater, duster coat, or trousers. So, I did some online window shopping and curated a small collection of items that go along with my inspiration board! To see more of what is inspiring me at the moment check out my fashion tumblr.

Asos longline duster jacket – $116.08
Asos barts jasmin scarf – $63.83
Topshop PU assymetric skort – $68
H&M knit turtleneck sweater – $59.95

Labor Day Weekend Whites

Buffalo Exchange blouse, H&M skirt, H&M/eBay necklaces, Vera Wang booties

First week of the semester is all wrapped up! I wanted to go out and celebrate all weekend, but unfortunately I caught this awful cold. I went out with a few friends Friday night and due to all my talking, lost my voice. So sad. So, last night I stayed in and watched the movie, Chef (highly recommend if you like food), and ate ice cream by myself. Not that I mind. Don’t get me wrong, I love going out and having a good time but there’s no way I can do it every night. I am definitely more of a homebody person.
When I woke up this morning I was happy to see that I regained some recollection of a voice. I still sound like a man, but at least I can communicate words.. So, no labor day weekend is complete without an all white ensemble! Do you have plans for a BBQ?

Apartment Room Tour

Long time, no post! I cannot believe how the end of August is here. Inevitably, I am wallowing in my own self-pity as classes start again tomorrow (first world problems?). However, as you can see from the above pictures I have moved into my new apartment yesterday! I am obsessed with my new room. Although, it is a bit cramped I feel like it really reflects me, which to me, is so important as my room is where I spend so much of my time and I want it to feel like home as much as possible.
Honestly, the biggest struggle was having to fit all my clothes into this room, which is why I had to bring my own clothing rack because the wardrobe they provided was just not cutting it. Alas, I have always wanted one and I was excited to organize it! There’s a couple things I have to tweak and add, but other than that my room is good to go! Good luck to all those who are starting another semester. Kill it!

Black Roses

Forever 21 baseball shirt & necklace, H&M leather skirt, Mossimo heels

As a college student, this summer I am short on money, so I have been doing my best to sustain my finances and not blow it on an abundance of clothes as I usually do. Let me tell you though, this is one of the most difficult resolutions for me..Yesterday, I went to this huge mall near my area and I had to use all of self-control to not buy everything in site. You will be proud of me as I didn’t make a clothing purchase at all! I only bought these cute measuring cups (random, right?).

I love this floral baseball shirt. My only complaint is that it’s a bit itchy, but not to the point where it’s an extreme bother. I’ve never seen anything like it. As this was my first time wearing it, I’m a bit curious to see how it will hold up with a few washes. I know Forever 21 is cheap as hell, thus their clothing is sub-par quality, but this goes back to conserving my finances. I can’t be splurging on the brands I love like Zara, Alexander Wang, etc. although I want to so badly!

How was your weekend? 🙂

Review: Lokai Bracelet

Once while aimlessly scrolling through the internet as I usually find myself doing, I came across this bracelet. Although at a quick glance, it looks minimal, the meaning behind it goes way beyond. I was drawn to it as soon as I started reading about it. The Lokai bracelet contains mud from the Red Sea in the black bead and water from Mt. Everest in the white bead or elements from the highest and lowest points on Earth (Authentic as there are pictures of customers who have cut open the bracelet).

The meaning behind this, is to remind the wearer to stay humble. Sometimes you are on top of the world and sometimes you reach a low point. No matter the case, you should be true to yourself. Plus, 10% of the profits are given to a charity.

The Lokai bracelet is really great quality. The only thing that I have to say, is that I expected the material of the beads to be a hard plastic, but to my surprise they have a silicone feel to them. Just FYI. This bracelet has become a part of my everyday wear and I have to say, it’s perfect because it goes with my monochrome looks I always tend to gravitate towards (haha).
