Maybe it is the fact that I am Korean, but skin care has always trumped my interest in any makeup. I have always had the desire to achieve blemish-free skin – like you often see every girl and guy have in a typical Korean drama. But let’s be real – perfect, airbrushed skin is not always realistic for the average person. However, this does not mean we should just neglect our skin. I mean, we only have one epidermis the entirety of our life, so why not do all we can to take care of it? I know I am only in my early 20s, but I really think it is never too early to incorporate a comprehensive skin care routine into your life.

I am not saying I achieved a smooth, porcelain face overnight by regularly using some of these products, but I promise that going this extra mile makes a huge difference. I noticed my skin improved quite a bit and I feel more confident “to be in the skin I am in”…too much?

As a disclaimer, I must remind you that everyone’s skin is different and this routine worked for me, but may not work for you. My skin type is inherently normal to dry. I received these products courtesy of Jolse and used them in cohesion with some of the products I already owned. I follow this specific routine at night.

Step 1: Oil Cleanser

If you have dry skin and have not switched your makeup remover to an oil cleanser…what are you doing?! I switched a couple of months ago and will never look back to be honest! If your skin is lacking moisture, this is the perfect step to a skin care routine. Not only does it remove your makeup, but adds some well-needed suppleness back into the skin after a long day.

Step 2: Cleanser

For the past 4 years or so, I have been regularly using Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Cleanser as it was the cure to my hormonal breakouts and I have yet to remove it from my nighttime routine. Stick with what works, right? I highly recommend this product for those looking for a simple, effective cleanser to keep your skin clear and clean.

Step 3: Exfoliator

I use this SkinFood Black Sugar Mask as an exfoliator, as well as a mini mask. After cleansing, I apply it to my face and then I simply just leave it on my face for 10 minutes. After the allotted time, I exfoliate until the product is rubbed in and rinse off. It immediately leaves me skin feeling soft, supple and ready to absorb more products. This product would be amazing for people with any skin type!

Step 4: Toner

This is the best toner I have ever used! I am a huge believer in witch hazel and the Thayer’s Witch Hazel Toner has been a game changer. I pat it gently on my face and it makes my skin feel so refreshed and clean. Not to mention, it does a great job of tightening my pores and since it is alcohol-free it does not dry out the skin at all.

Step 5: Essence

I desperately wanted to add the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence to my routine because I have heard so many Asian beauty YouTubers and Bloggers rave about it, but the price is too steep for my liking. I did some research and many websites were pointing me to the more affordable dupe, the CORSX Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence.

This product definitely lives up to its’ expectations as it produced such a beautiful, natural looking glow! It successfully brightens and evens my skin tone. Out of all of the products I received from Jolse, this is hands down my favorite and if you decide to purchase anything from this post – it should be this one!

Step 6: Serum

I opted for this Elizavecca Gold CF-Nest Extract 97% B-jo Serum – primarily because of the price and packaging (hehe). I have not tried too many serums, so there is not much I can contrast it to, but I do think it is a slightly above average serum. It does not seem to be a miracle worker but rather does its’ job and that is about it. The fragrance is very light and leaves a slight sticky feeling. I am going to finish this up, but next time I will go for a different serum.

Step 7: sheet mask

I think we all know the merits of Korean sheet masks by now! I like to treat myself to a sheet mask at least once a week. If I am feeling extra special, I will even go with the Dr. Jart Water Replenishment Mask. Definitely a must for an instant moisturizer boost, especially if you tend to have dry skin like me!

Step 8: Eye Cream

My under eye area tends to be one of the driest areas, partly because I always apply concealer there and it is the most delicate part of the face. Needless to say, investing in an eye cream has been long overdue on my part. I decided to try out the Elizavecca Gold CF-Nest B-JO Eye Was Cream – which is from the same collection as the aforementioned serum. I was immediately attracted to this one because of the economic benefits, as it is quite a large pot considering you only need a little bit with each application.

It has a balmy texture and does a great job of moisturizing the under eye without feeling too cakey and thick. As with the serum, I do not think this is a miracle product, but for the attractive price tag, it is hard to go wrong with this!

Step 9: Moisturizer

For the last Elizavecca product I tried out, I ordered the Green Piggy Collagen Jella Pack. This stuff is amazing. At first, I was caught off guard because I have never seen a product with such a jello-like consistency. This is by far, my second favorite product from Jolse. After I got over the texture, I applied it to my face and went to heaven. It is such a dreamy, creamy consistency that is perfect as a sleeping pack. The collagen is definitely noticeable and makes the skin thicker and more soft.

Step 10: Skin Mist (Mornings Only)

Typically, the 10th step is a sunscreen (which I do use), but I really wanted to talk about the Innisfree Aloe Revital Skin Mist. This spray provides such a healthy glow and adds some moisture back into my face after applying my usual foundation and concealer. It is not a setting spray so it does not extend the longevity of your makeup, but rather keeps your face moisturized and fresh looking. Highly recommend!

The Results

My skin will honestly never be the same… This skin care routine has improved my skin so much throughout the past month and a half. It has become noticeably brighter and has a much more even tone. I did not achieve the porcelain, glass skin your favorite K-Pop star has, but switching to a 10 Step Korean Skin Care routine is definitely worth it in my opinion. If you have not given it a go, you most definitely should! There is a reason South Korea is the #1 skin care capital of the world.

If you have normal to dry skin, I do recommend all of these products. They can be purchased from Jolse – an amazing resource for all things Korean skin care. It was such an easy website to shop from and they have some of the best prices I have seen online.

Pose & Repeat

I can vouch for the merits of a multiple-step Korean/Asian beauty inspired skincare routine. For my skin, chemical rather than physical exfoliation tends to work better. (I started with Paula’s Choice 2% BHA liquid, but CosRx makes cheaper BHA products that I like better.)

I love not only Korean skin care products, but the whole idea behind the 10 step routines. My skin care routine now feels more like a soothing ritual rather than a chore, as it should. Thanks for sharing this! I’m always on the hunt for different places to by affordable Korean skin care. I’m a obsessed with skin care as well!
